Model Kit Revell Airbus A 380 Design New livery First Flight
The Airbus A380, revealed on 18 January 2005 at the Jean-Luc Lagardere Final Assembly Line in Toulouse, is the world's first full-length twin-deck airliner. The event introduced Airbus' new company livery and highlighted the A380's position as a large-capacity long-range passenger aircraft. The type completed its maiden flight on 27 April 2005 from Blagnac airport in Toulouse, demonstrating a takeoff weight of 421 tonnes and successfully meeting primary flight-test objectives. The A380 programme included a comprehensive ground and flight test campaign involving multiple test aircraft to support a smooth entry into service.
The A380 model reproduces characteristic structural surface details and recessed panel lines for realistic appearance. It features a highly detailed landing gear with telescopic legs and struts, reproduction of the cockpit, separate wing and navigation lights, winglets and a detailed vertical tail and rudder. The kit includes fine rims for 22 wheels, separate wing track fairings, accurately modelled pylons and engine pods with RR Trent 900 engines, and individual antennas. Super decals present the new Airbus livery along with extensive maintenance markings for authentic finishing.
Assemble the model following the manufacturer's instructions, starting with major subassemblies such as fuselage halves, wings and tail units. Fit landing gear components and wheel assemblies carefully, ensuring telescopic leg parts are aligned. Attach pylons and engine pods, then install antennas and separate fairings. Use the provided decals to apply the new Airbus livery and maintenance markings; apply decals on a smooth, prepared surface and fix them with appropriate decal setting solutions where required. Perform final adjustments and clean any excess adhesive or paint for a neat finish.
Use standard modelling tools, precision cutters and fine brushes. Work in a well-lit area and follow safety guidance for adhesives and paints. Allow adequate drying time between assembly and painting steps. Suitable for experienced modellers due to fine details; beginners should allocate extra time and consult step-by-step instructions.
