Terminal ferrules Rittal AS 4051.580 — copper/PP insulated, 1.0 mm², 8 mm length, yellow, pack of 500
Rittal AS 4051.580 insulated terminal ferrules are copper conductor end sleeves with a polypropylene (PP) coloured insulation designed for terminating 1.0 mm² solid or stranded conductors. Each ferrule provides an 8 mm insertion length and a plastic collar that stabilises the crimp and helps guide the conductor into terminal blocks and screw connections. The product is supplied in a pack of 500 pieces and is intended for making reliable, low-resistance crimp connections in control cabinets, distribution panels and electrical assemblies.
These ferrules combine a tin-plated copper barrel for good conductivity with a yellow PP insulation that offers mechanical protection and clear visual identification. The plastic collar improves insulation retention and supports repeatable crimping quality when using a suitable crimping tool. The 8 mm insertion length is compatible with common terminal blocks and screw-type connectors, ensuring stable electrical contact and reduced risk of stray strands or loose connections.
This ferrule is designed specifically for conductors with a 1.0 mm² cross-section and an 8 mm insertion depth. It is not suitable for larger or smaller conductor sizes; using the wrong ferrule size can result in poor crimps or unreliable electrical contact. It is also not intended for direct high-temperature or high-vibration applications unless paired with appropriate strain relief and installation practices.
Strip the conductor to the specified length to expose the bare conductor matching the 8 mm insertion length. Insert the conductor strands fully into the ferrule barrel until the insulation collar seats against the wire insulation. Use a calibrated crimping tool designed for insulated ferrules to make a single, firm crimp at the barrel location. After crimping, inspect the connection for exposed strands and verify mechanical retention by a gentle pull test before inserting into the terminal block or screw connector.
For consistent results use a dedicated insulated-ferrule crimping tool and match ferrule size to conductor cross-section. Store packs in a dry environment and handle crimps with care to maintain low contact resistance and secure mechanical retention in electrical panels and control cabinets.
