Converter RS232-RS485 ROLINE 12.02.1028
The ROLINE RS232-RS485 Converter (model 12.02.1028) provides a compact and robust solution to connect RS232 equipment to RS485 networks. Housed in a grey plastic casing, the converter supports full-duplex data transfer over four lines and converts only the data lines. It requires an external mains adapter (included) for power and is intended for short-distance, non-galvanically isolated connections in industrial or office environments.
The converter supports adjustable DCE/DTE configuration and full duplex transfer across four lines, enabling flexible integration with various serial devices. A 25-pin socket on the RS232 side ensures compatibility with standard RS232 connectors while the robust plastic housing provides mechanical protection. The unit is supplied with a 9V DC, 300mA power adapter and manual for quick setup.
Connect the RS232 device to the 25-pin RS232 socket and wire the RS485 lines according to your network topology. Configure the converter for DCE or DTE as required by the connected equipment. Plug in the supplied 9V DC, 300mA adapter to power the unit. Verify signal direction and baud rate settings on both ends to ensure reliable full-duplex communication.
Use the converter for short-distance links and within the same ground potential since the device does not provide galvanic isolation. Ensure correct DCE/DTE setting and match baud rates for stable data transfer. Avoid harsh electrical environments or long cable runs where isolation would be necessary.
