Wide-angle lens Samyang 16mm f/2.0 for Sony E MILC, 13 elements/11 groups, 0.2 m close focus, 77 mm filter, 83 mm length, black
Samyang 16mm f/2.0 ED AS UMC CS is an ultra wide-angle, bright prime lens designed for mirrorless interchangeable-lens cameras (MILC) and digital SLRs with APS-C sensors. The optical construction comprises 13 elements in 11 groups, including one ED element, one glass aspherical element and one hybrid aspherical element. Multi-layer UMC anti-reflective coatings improve light transmission. The lens offers a fast f/2.0 aperture, 0.2 m minimum focus distance, 77 mm filter thread and a compact 83 mm length, supplied in black finish.
The lens provides a very wide field of view with a bright f/2.0 aperture suitable for low-light shooting and shallow depth-of-field effects. Optical elements including ED and aspherical elements reduce aberrations and distortion, while UMC coatings enhance contrast and reduce flare. Its solid build and compact dimensions make it practical for both professional and amateur photographers looking for a lightweight wide-angle solution.
Attach the Samyang 16mm f/2.0 to a compatible Sony E-mount camera body and secure the mount. Set the camera to the desired exposure mode and adjust aperture to f/2.0–f/16 depending on depth-of-field and light conditions. Focus manually using the focus ring; the lens offers a close-focus distance of 0.2 m for near subjects. Use a lens hood or position the camera to minimise stray light when shooting into bright sources. For long exposures or low-light scenes, use a tripod to ensure sharp images.
For best results in landscape and architecture work, stop down the aperture to f/5.6–f/11 to increase overall sharpness and depth of field. When shooting in low light or for creative shallow depth-of-field, use the f/2.0 aperture and check focus carefully, preferably with focus peaking if available. Use a 77 mm filter for neutral density or polarising filters when required.
