Wide fish-eye lens Samyang 7.5mm T3.8 Cine UMC Fish-eye for MFT, 9 elements/7 groups, Ø73.6mm, 48.3mm length, 195g, black
Samyang 7.5mm T3.8 Cine UMC Fish-eye is a compact fisheye cine lens for Micro Four Thirds (MFT) mirrorless cameras. With a 180° field of view and optical construction of 9 elements in 7 groups, the lens offers a pronounced fisheye perspective while remaining lightweight (195 g) and portable. The fixed T3.8 T-number indicates actual light transmission for consistent exposure control. The housing is made of high-strength aluminum alloy and the lens is available in black and silver finishes. Ultra Multi Coating (UMC) reduces flare and ghosting, and a non-detachable petal-shaped hood helps block stray light.
The lens provides a true 180° fisheye view in a compact form factor suitable for handheld and gimbal work. Inclusion of a glass aspherical element (ASP) and an extra-low dispersion element (ED) improves image quality and contrast across the frame, even at wide open aperture. The T3.8 marking shows actual light transmission for accurate exposure, and the uncoupled aperture gear ring operates quietly for cine use. A focus gear ring supports follow-focus systems, and the metal body increases durability in demanding conditions.
Mount the lens on a Micro Four Thirds camera body and use manual focus and manual aperture control for precise cinematic operation. Use the focus gear ring with a follow-focus device for smooth focus pulls. Set exposure based on the T3.8 rating and adjust ISO/shutter speed as needed. The built-in hood is non-detachable; position the camera to avoid direct strong light sources when possible to reduce residual flare.
For best results, frame with the fisheye perspective in mind — close subjects will appear exaggerated and curved. Use the lens for creative wide shots, sky or architecture scenes, and compact handheld filmmaking. Stop down slightly if you need increased corner sharpness or more regular starburst shapes from highlights.
