Polarizing (CPL) Slim Camera Lens Filter 37mm by SEAGULL SB2195
Polarizing (CPL) Slim Camera Lens Filter 37mm by SEAGULL SB2195
SEAGULL Slim 37mm Circular Polarizing (CPL) filter SB2195 is a thin-profile optical accessory designed for cameras and video cameras with a 37mm front thread. The CPL element reduces reflections and glare from non-metallic surfaces such as water, glass and foliage, increases color saturation and sky contrast, and contributes to improved clarity and detail in outdoor and landscape images. Its slim frame minimizes vignetting on wide-angle lenses while allowing the circular polarizer to rotate for precise control over polarization effect.
The slim metal frame reduces the risk of vignetting on wide-angle lenses while keeping the overall weight low. The circular polarizing glass suppresses unwanted reflections and enhances color rendition without affecting exposure significantly. The threaded design allows secure mounting to any lens nose with a 37mm thread and rotation of the filter ring enables easy adjustment of the polarization angle. The filter is suitable for both still photography and video capture where glare control and richer colors are required.
Screw the filter onto the front thread of a lens with a 37mm diameter until it is securely seated. Compose the shot and then rotate the outer ring of the CPL filter while observing the viewfinder or live view to achieve the desired reduction in reflections and increase in color saturation. Fine-tune the rotation to adjust the strength of the effect; maximum polarization is typically reached at a 90-degree angle to the sun. For wide-angle lenses, confirm there is no vignetting; if present, consider a thinner mounting or removing stacked filters.
Use the CPL filter when shooting scenes with prominent sky, water, foliage, or glass to improve color contrast and reduce glare. Avoid using the polarizer at very wide apertures for scenes where minute vignetting would be problematic, and remove the filter when shooting subjects that require neutral reflections such as metallic surfaces where polarization may produce uneven results.
