UV Filter SEAGULL SB2311 55mm — camera lens protective filter
SEAGULL SB2311 55mm UV Filter is a screw-on camera lens accessory that reduces ultraviolet light and provides physical protection for the front element of lenses with a 55 mm filter thread. The filter is constructed to transmit visible light while attenuating UV frequencies that can cause haze in outdoor scenes, helping to maintain image clarity and color fidelity in daylight conditions. The slim metal frame and optical glass are designed for straightforward mounting and regular photographic use.
The UV filter offers dual functionality: optical filtration to reduce atmospheric UV haze and mechanical protection against dust, fingerprints and light scratches. Its 55 mm threaded design ensures compatibility with many standard lenses, and the low-profile frame minimizes vignetting on wide-angle lenses. The optical glass is finished to provide neutral color rendering and maintain autofocus and exposure performance.
Align the filter threads with the lens’ 55 mm front thread and rotate clockwise until the filter is snug; avoid overtightening. For removal, rotate counterclockwise while supporting the lens to prevent strain on the camera mount. Clean the filter surface with a blower, microfiber cloth or lens cleaning solution as needed to remove dust, smudges and fingerprints. Mount the filter during outdoor shooting to reduce UV haze and leave it on during transport to protect the front element.
Store the filter in a protective case when not in use, avoid contact with abrasive surfaces, and check for compatibility with lens hoods or stacked filters to prevent vignetting on wide-angle lenses.
