Circular Polarizing (CPL) Camera Filter SEAGULL SHQ 72mm (SB2515)
Circular Polarizing (CPL) Camera Filter SEAGULL SHQ 72mm (SB2515)
The SEAGULL SHQ 72mm Circular Polarizing (CPL) Camera Filter is a threaded lens accessory designed to reduce reflections and glare from non-metallic surfaces while enhancing color saturation and perceived contrast. Fitting lenses with a 72mm front thread, this CPL filter helps photographers control polarized light to achieve deeper blue skies, improved cloud definition, and more vivid foliage when shooting outdoors. The optical design preserves image sharpness while allowing manual rotation to adjust the polarization effect.
This circular polarizer reduces unwanted surface reflections from water, glass, and wet surfaces, enabling clearer subject detail and more accurate colors. It increases color saturation and contrast without digital processing, which is useful for landscape, travel, and architectural photography. The threaded 72mm mount ensures secure attachment to compatible lenses, and the rotating ring allows precise control of polarization intensity. Optical coatings help maintain light transmission and minimize flare and ghosting for consistent image quality.
Screw the SEAGULL SHQ 72mm CPL filter onto the lens front thread until secure. While looking through the viewfinder or at the live view screen, rotate the outer ring of the filter to adjust the polarization strength until reflections are reduced and the sky or foliage appears as desired. For maximum effect, use the filter at a 90-degree angle to the sun. If combining with other filters, attach the CPL closest to the lens or follow manufacturer recommendations for stacking. Keep exposure settings and white balance in mind, as the filter may slightly reduce light transmission.
Use the CPL filter outdoors in bright or partly cloudy conditions and rotate it to find the optimal polarization angle. Store the filter in its protective case when not in use and clean with a soft microfiber cloth to avoid scratches. Avoid using a circular polarizer with wide-angle lenses at extreme angles to the sun if uniform sky darkening is not desired.
