Lens Softening Filter SEAGULL Soft Focus 37mm (SB3441)
The SEAGULL Soft Focus 37mm filter is a screw-in optical accessory designed to create softening, gentle glow and subtle diffusion effects directly in-camera. Fitting any lens with a 37mm front thread, this glass filter reduces contrast in highlights, smooths skin tones and produces a mild bloom that is useful for portrait, landscape and creative photography where a softened look is desired without relying on digital post-processing.
The softening surface of the filter generates a controlled diffusion that preserves overall image detail while reducing harsh edges and specular highlights. Attachment is straightforward thanks to the standard 37mm screw thread, enabling quick use in the field. Because the effect is optical, color rendering remains natural and exposure adjustments are minimal compared with heavy digital filters applied in post-processing.
Screw the filter onto the front of a lens with a matching 37mm thread until it seats securely; avoid overtightening. Compose and focus as usual — the filter leaves autofocus and metering operational. For portraits, work at moderate apertures and position the subject to use the filter’s glow on highlights. For landscapes, experiment with backlit scenes or light mist to accentuate atmosphere. If stronger softening is required, combine the filter with slightly wider apertures or gently overexpose highlights by small increments.
Keep the filter clean and store it in a protective case when not in use. Clean with a soft microfiber cloth and lens cleaning solution to avoid scratching the diffusion surface. When precise detail is required, remove the filter and shoot without it or bracket exposures to compare looks.
