SmallRig 5872 1/4 Effect Black Mist Filter for DJI Osmo Nano

The SmallRig 5872 1/4 Effect Black Mist Filter for DJI Osmo Nano is an optical camera filter designed to enhance visual storytelling by softening highlights and reducing excessive digital sharpness. Engineered specifically for the DJI Osmo Nano camera, this accessory introduces a subtle 1/4 diffusion effect that creates a cinematic, atmospheric quality in both video recordings and photographs. It helps achieve a more organic look by producing gentle glows around light sources while preserving overall image clarity and contrast.

Advantages

This black mist filter provides a professional cinematic look directly in-camera, reducing the time and effort needed during post-processing color grading. By diffusing bright highlights and smoothing out skin tones, it delivers a flattering aesthetic for portraiture and vlogging. The filter is tailored precisely to fit the DJI Osmo Nano, ensuring seamless attachment and reliable optical alignment during shooting.

Suitable for

• Vlogging and content creation
• Cinematic video production
• Portrait and lifestyle photography
• Shooting in high-contrast lighting conditions

When it may not be suitable

This filter may not be suitable if your goal is maximum digital sharpness, clinical accuracy, or technical precision in scientific or architectural documentation. It is also less ideal for users who prefer to add diffusion effects exclusively through digital post-processing rather than optical capture.

Key specifications

• Compatible with DJI Osmo Nano camera
• 1/4 diffusion effect strength
• Optical glass construction
• Softens highlights and reduces digital sharpness
• Creates cinematic glowing effect around light sources

How to use

Mount the filter securely onto the lens of the DJI Osmo Nano camera before starting your recording or photography session. Ensure the glass surface is clean and free of dust or fingerprints prior to attachment. Adjust your exposure settings as needed to account for the lighting environment, and shoot directly to capture the built-in diffusion and highlight softening effects.

What to consider before purchase

• Verify that your camera model is the DJI Osmo Nano
• Determine if a 1/4 diffusion strength matches your preferred visual style
• Assess whether you frequently shoot in environments with strong light sources

Usage recommendation: Handle the optical glass surfaces by the edges to avoid smudges and store the filter in a protective case when not in use to prevent scratches and dust accumulation.
