Drill bit Smart SDS‑Plus Quattro 8 x 460/400 mm
Drill bit Smart SDS‑Plus Quattro 8 x 460/400 mm
Drill bit Smart SDS‑Plus Quattro 8 x 460/400 mm is a rotary hammer accessory for drilling precise holes in concrete, masonry and natural stone. The bit has an 8 mm diameter, an overall length of 460 mm and a working length of 400 mm, and is designed for use with SDS‑Plus chucks. Four‑cut Quattro geometry optimizes cutting efficiency and facilitates fast removal of drilling debris, producing straighter holes with reduced walking at the start.
The Quattro four‑cut tip geometry improves impact force distribution and allows faster advance through hard materials compared with standard two‑cut bits. The extended working length provides access to recessed or deep anchoring points while the SDS‑Plus shank ensures secure coupling in compatible rotary hammers. The steel construction and precise tip design maintain hole accuracy and reduce the likelihood of bit bending during typical construction and installation tasks.
Insert the SDS‑Plus shank into the rotary hammer chuck until it locks, and verify that the tool is switched off and disconnected from power before changing accessories. Select an appropriate drilling mode (rotary hammering) and set the correct rotational speed and impact energy according to the rotary hammer manufacturer’s guidelines and the material being drilled. Start drilling with light pressure to establish the hole, then increase steady pressure without forcing the bit. Periodically withdraw the bit to clear dust and debris and prevent overheating; for deep holes, remove accumulated material more frequently.
Use appropriate personal protective equipment (eye protection, hearing protection and dust mask) and, when drilling reinforced concrete, take measures to manage dust. For best results in reinforced or very hard concrete, use intermittent drilling and allow the bit to cool. Replace the bit when the tip shows visible wear or when hole accuracy declines.
