Product information

Description

The Sony DSC-RX100M7 is a compact 1"-type camera with a 20.1 MP stacked CMOS sensor and the BIONZ X image processor, designed to deliver high-speed performance for both stills and movies. Its ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* 24–200mm (equivalent) F2.8–4.5 zoom lens provides an 8x optical range in a pocket-size body, while features such as 0.02 s autofocus, Real-time Tracking, Real-time Eye AF, enhanced image stabilisation and an external microphone jack support professional-level shooting and high-quality movie capture.

Advantages

The RX100 VII combines a broad 24–200mm zoom range with high-resolution optics including advanced aspherical and ED elements to maintain clarity across the frame. A newly developed stacked 1.0-type CMOS sensor and the latest BIONZ X engine enable fast continuous shooting up to 20 fps with AF/AE calculations up to 60 times per second. Blackout-free shooting with 60 fps display updates and a Single Burst Shooting mode (selectable 90/60/30 fps burst) help capture decisive moments. The compact, lightweight body also includes an external microphone jack for improved audio when recording movies.

Suitable for

  • Travel photography where portability and zoom flexibility are required
  • Event and street photography needing fast autofocus and tracking
  • Vlogging and video creation requiring external microphone input and stabilisation
  • Action and sports moments captured with high-speed burst modes

Key specifications

  • Sensor: 1.0-type stacked CMOS, 20.1 MP
  • Lens: ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* 24–200mm equivalent, F2.8–4.5 (8x optical zoom)
  • Continuous shooting: up to 20 fps with AF/AE tracking
  • Autofocus: 0.02 s speed, Real-time Tracking and Real-time Eye AF
  • Video: up to 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) recording
  • Display: 3" LCD
  • Connectivity: Wi‑Fi; external microphone jack
  • Weight: 0.275 kg; Colour: Black

How to use

Turn the camera on, set the desired shooting mode (Auto, P/A/S/M, or Movie), and use the zoom ring to frame your subject from 24mm wide to 200mm telephoto. For fast-moving subjects enable the high-speed continuous shooting mode and Real-time Tracking or Real-time Eye AF to maintain focus. Use the external microphone jack and a suitable microphone when recording movies for improved audio. Review images on the 3" display and adjust ISO, shutter speed and aperture as needed for exposure and creative control.

Usage recommendations

For best results in varying light, start with Auto or Program mode and increase ISO only as necessary to avoid noise. When shooting handheld at longer focal lengths, engage image stabilisation and use faster shutter speeds or burst modes to reduce motion blur. Use the Single Burst Shooting mode to capture very brief decisive moments in action sports or fast events.
