3D printer filament Spectrum PLA Special — dark gray
Spectrum PLA Special — dark gray is a biodegradable polylactic acid filament formulated for FDM/FFF 3D printers. It provides consistent extrusion and good layer adhesion for general-purpose printing of prototypes, scale models and functional parts where dimensional stability and surface finish matter. The material prints with standard PLA settings and can be used with a heated or unheated build surface depending on printer recommendations.
The filament offers reliable feeding and low-warp behaviour typical of PLA, producing smooth matte dark gray surfaces and fine detail reproduction. Its composition enables good layer-to-layer bonding and predictable dimensional accuracy for parts that require stable geometry. As a biodegradable polymer, it is compatible with common PLA slicer profiles and commonly available printer hotend temperatures.
Load the Spectrum PLA Special filament into the printer according to the manufacturer’s feeding instructions. Select a standard PLA temperature profile in your slicer and start with mid-range nozzle temperatures typical for PLA; adjust temperature and print speed as needed for optimal layer bonding and surface quality. Use a brim or skirt for small parts if additional adhesion is required. Allow printed parts to cool gradually to preserve dimensional stability and reduce the risk of deformation.
Store filament in a dry environment or sealed container with desiccant to prevent moisture uptake. For parts requiring higher impact resistance or heat tolerance, consider post-processing or alternative materials; for visual or dimensional-critical prints, calibrate retraction and cooling settings to minimise stringing and surface defects.
