3D printing filament Spectrum Smart ABS 1.75 mm — Blue, 1 kg
Spectrum Smart ABS 1.75 mm — Blue, 1 kg is a professional-grade ABS filament designed for FFF 3D printers that accept 1.75 mm material. Supplied on a 1 kg spool, this Pacific Blue filament combines the mechanical strength and heat resistance typical of ABS with optimized processing parameters that reduce common printing issues. The smart ABS formulation offers lower shrinkage, higher flow and a shiny surface finish, while emitting fewer irritant volatiles during printing. It retains useful mechanical properties down to −40°C and is suitable for durable prototypes, functional parts and finished components that require impact resistance and post-processing options such as solvent smoothing.
Spectrum Smart ABS provides improved printability compared with standard ABS: reduced dimensional shrinkage minimizes warping, an increased flow rate allows more consistent extrusion at slightly lower temperatures, and printed surfaces have a glossy appearance. The material’s high impact resistance and relatively high rigidity make it suitable for parts exposed to mechanical stress. Packaging on a transparent spool with vacuum sealing and a desiccant preserves filament quality during storage and transport.
Load the 1.75 mm filament onto a compatible FFF 3D printer following the printer manufacturer's guidelines for spool placement and filament feeding. Use a heated bed and an enclosure if possible to reduce warping; adjust nozzle temperature to the recommended range for Spectrum Smart ABS and calibrate print speed and extrusion multiplier to account for the increased flow rate. After printing, parts can be post-processed by sanding, mechanical finishing or solvent smoothing using acetone vapor to achieve very smooth, glossy surfaces. Store unused filament in its vacuum packaging with the desiccant to prevent moisture uptake.
For best results, print with a heated bed, consider using a brim or raft for larger parts, and use an enclosure or ambient heating when printing bulky or tall objects. Begin with conservative print speeds and tune extrusion settings to the visible surface quality. When performing acetone vapor smoothing, follow safe ventilation and handling procedures and test the method on small samples before treating critical parts.
