3D printer filament Spectrum SILK PLA 1.75 mm Indigo Blue 1 kg spool
Spectrum SILK PLA 1.75 mm Indigo Blue is a silk-finish polylactic acid filament supplied on a 1 kg spool for FFF/FDM 3D printers that accept 1.75 mm PLA. The material combines the ease of printing and dimensional compatibility of standard PLA with a higher surface sheen and smoother visual appearance typical of silk PLA grades. The indigo blue shade provides a deep, glossy color suitable for decorative models, display pieces and visual prototypes where aesthetic surface quality is important.
Spectrum SILK PLA offers a balance of printability and visual finish: it prints on common PLA settings with good layer adhesion and low warping, while delivering an attractive glossy surface that reduces the need for post-processing for display parts. The filament’s consistent diameter and spooled format ensure reliable feeding and stable extrusion over longer prints. Its silk formulation improves perceived surface smoothness and enhances color depth compared with standard matte PLA.
Load the 1.75 mm filament onto a compatible FFF/FDM 3D printer following the printer manufacturer’s filament loading procedure. Typical printing temperatures for silk PLA are similar to standard PLA; start with the printer’s recommended PLA nozzle temperature and adjust in 5°C increments if needed for optimal flow and layer adhesion. Use a heated bed if available and set it to the temperature recommended for PLA to reduce first-layer issues; if a heated bed is not available, use an adhesion aid such as blue painter’s tape or a glue stick. Print at moderate speeds to preserve surface sheen and detail, and ensure the filament path is free of sharp bends or obstructions to prevent feeding issues.
For best surface finish, avoid overly high retraction speeds and extreme cooling that can dull the silk effect. If additional smoothness or increased gloss is required, post-processing options include light sanding followed by a gentle polish or a suitable clear coating designed for PLA; test any coating on a small sample first. Store the spool in a dry environment or sealed bag with desiccant to maintain consistent print quality.
