Spectrum Filaments PLA Silk Nightfire is a 1 kg spool of multicolour Polylactic Acid (PLA) designed for 1.75 mm extruders. The silk variant produces a smooth, glossy surface with subtle color transitions, suitable for decorative prints, figurines, prototypes and household items. The filament is supplied in a retail box and is intended for hobby and professional FDM 3D printers.
The silk formulation yields a silky sheen and enhanced surface finish while maintaining the ease of printing associated with PLA. Consistent diameter and extrusion support reliable layer adhesion and predictable results. Multicolour Nightfire adds visual interest without the need for post-processing color work.
This PLA silk filament is not formulated for high-temperature or load-bearing engineering applications; it has the typical temperature and mechanical limits of standard PLA. For parts that require high heat resistance, prolonged outdoor exposure, or significant mechanical stress, consider engineering-grade materials such as PETG, ABS or nylon.
Load the 1.75 mm filament into a compatible FDM 3D printer and set nozzle and bed temperatures according to your printer and slicer recommendations for PLA (commonly around 190–220 °C for the nozzle and 20–60 °C for the bed). Use standard print speeds and cooling settings to preserve the silk surface appearance. Store the spool in a dry place or in sealed packaging with desiccant to prevent moisture uptake.
For best surface results, print with moderate cooling and avoid excessive retraction settings that can affect color transitions. If stronger mechanical properties or heat resistance are required, choose an alternative material.
