STABILUS EXCELLENT PRO boat-shaped file Zebra NF21 150/180

STABILUS EXCELLENT PRO boat-shaped file Zebra NF21 150/180 is a hand file designed for shaping and finishing work. The file has a concave, boat-shaped profile that makes it suitable for smoothing curved surfaces and inner contours. The Zebra abrasive pattern on the working surface provides consistent cutting action and controlled material removal for metalworking, woodworking and general filing tasks where a shaped rasp is required.

Advantages

The concave boat profile allows precise contact with curved and hollow sections, reducing the need for complex tool setup. The Zebra abrasive pattern delivers uniform cutting and longer abrasive life compared with irregular tooth patterns. The handle and tang configuration is designed for secure grip and controlled pressure during filing operations, improving comfort and accuracy in repeated use.

Suitable for

• Shaping and smoothing inner curves and hollows in metal parts
• Profiling and finishing wooden concave surfaces
• Deburring and material removal on small to medium workpieces
• General maintenance and repair tasks requiring a concave file

Key specifications

• Profile: boat-shaped (concave) for curved surfaces
• Abrasive pattern: Zebra textured cutting surface for uniform material removal
• Working length/size indication: 150/180 dimensions for handling and reach
• Typical applications: metalworking, woodworking, general filing

How to use

Secure the workpiece in a vise or clamp to prevent movement. Hold the file with a firm forward stroke while maintaining light downward pressure on the return stroke to avoid rounding the profile. Use the boat-shaped surface to follow the curvature of the workpiece, keeping the file aligned with the intended contour. Periodically clear filings from the surface with a wire brush to preserve cutting performance and inspect the workpiece until the desired shape and finish are achieved.

Usage recommendations

For best results, select the file size that matches the radius of the curved surface and work progressively from coarse to finer cuts. Wear appropriate eye protection and gloves, and maintain steady, controlled strokes. Store the file in a dry place and protect the working surface from damage by avoiding contact with other tools.
