Socket 1/2" imperial STANLEY STMT88738-0, length 94 mm, weight 70 g
STANLEY STMT88738-0 is a 1/2" drive imperial socket designed for fastening and loosening imperial fasteners in automotive, mechanical and maintenance work. Forged from chrome vanadium steel with a high chrome finish, the 94 mm long socket provides corrosion resistance and durability. The 6-point MaxiDrive profile improves contact with nuts and bolts to reduce slippage, while visible size markings make identification quick when working with 1/2" drive ratchets and torque tools.
The socket’s chrome vanadium construction and high chrome plating offer strength and protection against wear and corrosion. The 6-point MaxiDrive geometry increases contact area on fasteners to minimise rounding and slippage under load. Visible dimension markings simplify size selection during repetitive tasks. Its 94 mm length gives additional reach for recessed fasteners while remaining compact enough for general workshop use.
Select the correct imperial socket size and attach it securely to a compatible 1/2" drive ratchet, extension or torque wrench. Position the socket squarely on the fastener, ensuring full engagement of the 6-point profile before applying torque. For tightening, apply steady force and follow the torque specifications recommended for the fastener. For loosening, apply controlled force to avoid sudden release. After use, clean the socket of grease and debris and store it in a dry place to maintain the finish.
Use the socket only with tools and fasteners rated for the required torque. Avoid impact use unless the socket is explicitly rated for impact applications. Regularly inspect the socket for wear or deformation and replace if any damage is found to maintain safe and effective operation.
