USB-C to HDMI/DVI/VGA Multiport Video Adapter, StarTech, up to 4K@60Hz, Thunderbolt 3/4 compatible, aluminum, grey
The StarTech USB-C to HDMI/DVI/VGA Multiport Video Adapter is a compact aluminum travel adapter that converts a USB Type-C (male) connection to HDMI, DVI and VGA outputs. Designed for laptops, tablets and other USB-C or Thunderbolt 3/4 hosts that support DisplayPort Alt Mode, the adapter provides flexible video connectivity for presentations, external monitors and projectors. The grey aluminum housing and a 30 cm attached cable make it suitable for both desktop and mobile use while offering physical durability and reduced strain on device ports.
This multiport adapter supports HDMI 2.0b output up to 4K at 60 Hz and HDR on compatible displays, while the DVI-I port supports up to 1080p at 60 Hz and the VGA port supports up to 1920x1200 at 60 Hz. The adapter enables mirrored dual 1080p displays when combining VGA with either HDMI or DVI-I and is compatible with a wide range of operating systems via plug-and-play operation. Screwed VGA and DVI connections help secure the physical link to legacy projectors and monitors. The compact aluminum construction and integrated cable are optimized for travel and frequent connection cycles.
Connect the adapter's USB-C plug to a USB-C or Thunderbolt 3/4 port on a host device that supports DisplayPort Alt Mode. Plug an HDMI, DVI-I, or VGA cable from the adapter into the external display or projector. For VGA and DVI connections, use screw locking cables if available to secure the connection. The adapter is plug-and-play on Windows, macOS, iPadOS, ChromeOS and many Linux distributions; once connected the host should detect the external display(s) and allow configuration of display mode (mirror or extend) and resolution through the operating system display settings.
To achieve 4K at 60 Hz with HDR, use the HDMI output on a host and display that both support HDMI 2.0b and ensure the connecting HDMI cable is rated for the required bandwidth. If using legacy projectors or monitors, select the DVI or VGA output and confirm the display's maximum supported resolution. Avoid using the adapter for MST-based multi-extended displays; it does not support multi-stream transport. Store the adapter in a protective compartment during travel to prevent scratches to the aluminum housing.
