Add an RS232 serial port to a laptop or desktop using an available USB-A port with the StarTech.com USB to Serial Adapter Cable (10ft / 3m) featuring FTDI IC. This cable provides a straight-through USB-A to DB9 (DE-9) male connection to enable serial communication for Data Terminal Equipment (DTE) such as laptops and desktops. It includes interchangeable slotted D-Sub thumbscrews and DB-9 nuts for secure attachment to a variety of serial peripherals.

Advantages

The adapter offers plug-and-play compatibility with Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, and Linux, with automatic driver installation for Windows 7 and newer and macOS 10.15 and later. LED indicators display USB connectivity and data transmit/receive activity for diagnostics.
