The StarTech 4-Port Gigabit Power over Ethernet PCIe network card adds four Gigabit Ethernet ports with integrated PoE support to a PCI Express-enabled computer. Designed for use in clients, servers and workstations, this internal NIC supplies data and power over a single cable, supporting IEEE 802.3/802.3u/802.3ab Ethernet standards and IEEE 802.3at Power over Ethernet. The card provides an aggregate throughput of up to 2000 Mbit/s and supports advanced networking features such as VLAN tagging, QoS and Jumbo Frames.

How to use

Install the card into an available PCI Express slot in a powered-off computer following the host system manufacturer’s instructions. Connect standard Cat5e or better Ethernet cabling from the card’s RJ45 ports to PoE-capable devices; the card functions as Power Sourcing Equipment and will provide power to compliant Powered Devices. Configure network settings on the host operating system and enable features such as VLAN tagging or Jumbo Frames in the OS or switch management interface as required. Use Wake on LAN where supported to remotely wake connected systems.

Use Cat5e or higher cabling for reliable Gigabit throughput and PoE delivery.
