USB to Ethernet Adapter StarTech USB 3.0 — Gigabit 10/100/1000, 11.8in (30cm) attached cable, USB to RJ45
The StarTech USB 3.0 — Gigabit 10/100/1000 USB to Ethernet Adapter adds a wired RJ45 network port to a computer through a USB Type-A port. Compact and USB powered, the adapter features an attached 11.8 in (30 cm) cable and supports wired connectivity to Gigabit networks using Cat5/Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6a cabling. The adapter supports IEEE 802.3 networking standards and is designed for systems that lack an internal Ethernet jack or require a quick replacement for a faulty port.
The adapter provides a straightforward way to access wired Gigabit LAN speeds via a USB 3.0/3.2 Gen 1 host interface, with backward compatibility for older USB ports. Native driver support for major operating systems reduces setup complexity and enables plug-and-play operation. Its small, lightweight design and integrated 30 cm cable make it portable and convenient for laptops and compact systems. The device supports full-duplex operation, VLAN tagging, Auto-MDIX, and jumbo frames for improved network flexibility.
Plug the attached USB Type-A connector into an available USB 3.0/3.2 Gen 1 port on your computer. Connect an Ethernet cable to the RJ45 port and to your network switch, router, or wall outlet. On most systems the adapter will be recognized automatically; if necessary, install the appropriate Realtek-based drivers provided by the device manufacturer for Windows, macOS, or Linux. After the operating system detects the adapter, configure network settings as required by your environment (DHCP or static IP).
For optimal Gigabit performance, use a USB 3.0/3.2 Gen 1 port and Cat5e or higher cabling. Avoid placing heavy objects on the attached cable and allow adequate clearance around the USB connector to prevent strain. If you require advanced network features (VLANs, jumbo frames), verify driver support and configure these settings within the OS or network management tools.
