USB to Ethernet Adapter StarTech USB31000S2H
The StarTech USB31000S2H is a compact USB to Ethernet adapter that adds a Gigabit RJ45 network port to computers with a USB Type-A port. The adapter supports 10/100/1000 Mbps connections, is compatible with Cat5 through Cat6a cabling, and is USB powered via a 30 cm attached cable. It uses the Realtek RTL8153 chipset for native driver support across Windows, macOS and Linux and comes in a minimalist black design suitable for portable use.
This USB to Ethernet adapter provides Gigabit network performance when connected to a USB 3.2 Gen 1 (USB 3.0) or higher port, enabling faster file transfers and smoother streaming compared with typical wireless connections. It delivers plug-and-play compatibility with native drivers on major operating systems, supports VLAN tagging, Auto-MDIX, full-duplex operation and 9K jumbo frames, and includes backward compatibility for older USB ports. The 30 cm cable and USB-powered design make it convenient for laptop users and mobile setups.
Plug the USB Type-A connector into an available USB 3.0/3.2 Gen 1 (or higher) port on your computer, then connect an Ethernet cable to the RJ45 port on the adapter. The adapter is USB powered and requires no external power supply. On supported operating systems the Realtek RTL8153 chipset provides native drivers so the adapter should function immediately; if necessary install drivers provided by the operating system or from the manufacturer. After connection, configure network settings in your OS if static IP or VLAN settings are required.
For best Gigabit performance, connect the adapter to a USB 3.0/3.2 Gen 1 or higher port and use Cat5e or Cat6 cabling. If you plan to use advanced network features (VLAN tagging, jumbo frames), verify compatibility with your network equipment and configure settings in the operating system or network management tools.
