Sunlu PLA+ Silk (blue) is a silk-finish PLA+ filament for FDM 3D printers supplied in 1.75 mm diameter. It delivers a glossy, silky surface that reduces the need for post-processing and is intended for decorative prints, display models and artistic prototypes that require an elegant visual appearance while maintaining the printability and layer adhesion typical of PLA+.

Advantages

The filament offers a striking glossy finish and stable dimensional accuracy to ±0.02 mm, which supports consistent feeding and repeatable results. It feeds smoothly into most FDM printers, reduces the risk of jams and requires no special handling compared with standard PLA. Low warping and minimal shrinkage help achieve even, high-quality surfaces on detailed models.

When it may not be suitable

This silk PLA+ is not designed for high-temperature functional parts: its Vicat softening and heat deflection temperatures are around 53–54 °C, so it can deform under sustained heat. It is also not the best choice for mechanically demanding applications that require very high impact resistance or elongation at break.

While Sunlu PLA+ Silk can print without a heated bed on some machines, follow your printer’s guidance about bed heating and adhesion aids to minimise warping and ensure stable first-layer adhesion.
