PLA+ Silk 1.75 mm 1 kg filament, Sunlu — Rainbow finish
Sunlu PLA+ Silk 1.75 mm 1 kg filament in Rainbow finish is a PLA-based material formulated to combine the ease of printing associated with PLA with an enhanced glossy, silk-like surface. Designed for FDM/FFF 3D printers that accept 1.75 mm filament, this spool provides a visually striking finish ideal for decorative items, display models and parts where a smooth, reflective appearance is required. The Rainbow finish produces subtle color shifts across the surface, adding visual depth without additional post-processing.
The PLA+ Silk formulation improves layer adhesion and reduces brittleness compared with standard PLA while retaining low-warp behavior and low-odour printing. Its silk-like sheen yields a smooth, reflective surface straight off the printer, reducing the need for sanding or coating for aesthetic pieces. The 1 kg spool offers sufficient material for medium to large prints and the 1.75 mm diameter ensures broad compatibility with a wide range of consumer and prosumer FDM/FFF printers.
Load the filament onto a compatible 1.75 mm feeder and set the nozzle temperature according to your printer and material guidelines (typical PLA+ ranges between 200–220°C; consult your printer settings). Use a heated bed if available (40–60°C recommended) to improve first-layer adhesion, although PLA+ often prints well on unheated beds with proper adhesion aids. Print at moderate speeds to preserve surface sheen and fine detail; adjust retraction and cooling settings to minimise stringing and ensure crisp layers. Allow printed parts to cool fully on the build plate before removal to avoid deformation.
Store the filament in a dry, cool environment and use sealed packaging or desiccant to prevent moisture absorption. For best surface results, calibrate extrusion multiplier and layer height; lower layer heights and slightly reduced print speed enhance the silk-like finish. If post-processing is needed, gentle sanding followed by a light polish or clear coating will retain the glossy effect.
