Electrical Insulation Tape Tesa H5398836 — PVC, 20 m × 19 mm, 5000 V, blue
Tesa electrical insulation tape H5398836 is a PVC adhesive tape designed for insulating electrical connections with a rated dielectric strength up to 5000 V. The tape comes in blue, on a roll 20 m long and 19 mm wide, and is intended for use in domestic and light industrial electrical work where secure insulation and phase identification are required.
The PVC backing provides good mechanical strength and flexibility for wrapping irregular shapes and bundles of wires. The adhesive is formulated to adhere reliably to common cable sheaths and conductors, maintaining insulation performance under normal indoor conditions. The tape’s colour supports phase marking and visual identification in multi-conductor installations.
Ensure surfaces are clean, dry and free of oil or dust before application. Cut or tear the tape to the required length, start wrapping with slight overlap and apply firm tension to create a smooth, continuous layer. For splices, begin a few centimetres before the exposed area and extend several centimetres beyond it to ensure adequate coverage. For phase identification, wrap a visible portion of the conductor or cable with the coloured tape without compromising connector clearances.
Use this tape for indoor and light-duty outdoor tasks where the voltage rating and PVC properties are appropriate. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, or chemicals that may degrade PVC. For high-voltage, wet or permanently outdoor installations, select products specifically rated for those conditions and follow local electrical safety regulations.
