Socket for Spark Plugs Topex 08-090, 1/2" Drive, 16 mm
Topex 08-090 is a 16 mm spark plug socket with a 1/2" drive designed for the removal and installation of spark plugs in automotive engines. The tool is compatible with standard 16 mm spark plugs and connects to 1/2" ratchets, extensions or universal joints to reach plugs recessed in the engine bay. Its dimensions and drive size make it suitable for general maintenance and repair tasks where a secure fit and reliable torque transfer are required.
The socket provides a precise 16 mm fit to reduce slipping and rounding of the plug hex. A 1/2" drive interface ensures compatibility with commonly used ratchets and accessories for higher leverage and controlled torque application. The compact length and standard shape allow access in confined spaces while maintaining good contact with the spark plug. Constructed to meet typical workshop use, the socket is durable enough for repeated removal and installation cycles.
Select a 1/2" ratchet or extension compatible with the socket. Attach the Topex 08-090 socket to the ratchet and position it over the spark plug hex. Turn counterclockwise to loosen and remove the plug, using extensions or universal joints as needed to reach recessed positions. When installing a spark plug, thread it by hand initially to avoid cross-threading, then tighten using the ratchet to the manufacturer's specified torque value. Use controlled force and appropriate torque settings to prevent overtightening or damage to the plug or cylinder head.
Use the socket with the correct 16 mm spark plug and a 1/2" drive tool; when working in tight engine compartments, combine with extensions or a universal joint for safer access, and always observe the vehicle manufacturer's torque specifications when tightening spark plugs.
