Console Server Tripp Lite B093-004-2E4U — 4 serial ports, Dual Gigabit NIC, 4 GB flash, 4 USB
The Tripp Lite B093-004-2E4U console server provides secure remote access to serial- and network-connected equipment, enabling management of routers, switches, firewalls, PBX systems, UPS units, PDUs and other devices from anywhere. The unit includes four RS-232 serial console ports, four USB 2.0 console ports, dual Gigabit Ethernet interfaces for primary and failover network connectivity, and 4 GB of internal flash storage. It supports directory-based authentication and industry-standard security protocols, and is suitable for rack or desktop deployment in wiring closets, branch offices and other remote sites.
The console server combines in-band and out-of-band access options, including support for external USB modems for alternate-channel connectivity during network outages. Dual Gigabit Ethernet ports provide automatic failover while on-board USB and DIO ports expand compatibility with modern PDUs and UPS management cards. Built-in security features, a FIPS 140-2 validated OpenSSL module and compatibility with common authentication systems simplify secure centralised management. Compact, fanless steel housing with rack mounting brackets allows flexible installation.
This console server is designed for managing serial and network-connected infrastructure equipment; it is not intended as a general-purpose network appliance or replacement for full feature enterprise firewalls/router platforms. Environments that require more than four serial console ports or specialised non-standard serial interfaces may need a different model.
Install the unit in a 19-inch rack using the supplied brackets or place it on a desktop using the included rubber feet. Connect network cables to the dual Gigabit Ethernet ports and connect target devices to the RS-232 serial ports or USB console ports using appropriate cables. Configure directory authentication (TACACS+, RADIUS, LDAP or Kerberos) and security settings via the web interface or command-line interface. For out-of-band access, attach a supported external USB modem to a USB port and configure dial-in access as required.
For secure centralized management, integrate the console server with your existing directory services and enable FIPS-validated cryptography, keep firmware updated, and, if required, configure the external USB modem for reliable out-of-band access during network outages.
