Carbon brush YTMG0111 is a replacement electrical brush designed for Tryton mini grinders TMG170 and TMG170K. Positioned as component 11 in the original tool assembly, this carbon brush restores proper motor commutation, ensuring consistent electrical contact between the rotor and the field. It is intended for maintenance and repair of handheld mini grinders to reduce sparking, maintain performance, and extend motor life.
The carbon construction provides stable conductivity and predictable wear characteristics, allowing straightforward replacement and predictable service intervals. This brush helps reduce electrical arcing at the commutator, which can lower maintenance needs and improve long-term reliability. The replacement part is shaped to match the original brush seat for secure fit and correct alignment with the commutator.
Power off and disconnect the grinder from its power source before beginning any work. Access the brush holder by removing the housing or end cap according to the tool service instructions. Remove the worn brush, noting orientation and spring or retaining clip placement, and replace it with the new carbon brush, ensuring proper seating and spring tension. Reassemble the housing and test the grinder under no-load conditions to confirm correct operation and absence of excessive sparking.
Inspect brushes periodically for wear and replace them when the carbon length approaches the manufacturer’s minimum recommended size or when excessive sparking occurs. Use original-design brushes to maintain correct commutation and motor performance.
