Copper Cable Lug UN CU K 16/8 — copper crimp terminal, model CU K 16/8
UN copper cable lug CU K 16/8 is a copper crimp terminal designed to terminate a 16 mm² conductor and secure it to an 8 mm connection stud or bolt. The lug is manufactured from solid copper to provide low contact resistance and improved conductivity. Its construction is suitable for fixed wiring and mechanical fastening where a reliable, crimped connection is required in electrical installations, control panels, automotive and industrial wiring systems.
The solid copper body offers consistent electrical conductivity and inherent corrosion resistance in typical indoor and protected environments. The crimp-style barrel permits a secure mechanical and electrical joint when compressed with the appropriate crimping tool, reducing contact resistance and the risk of loosening under vibration. The flat lug end with an 8 mm hole supports reliable bolted connections to busbars, terminals and studs, allowing quick, repeatable installations.
Strip the conductor to the correct length so the bare conductor fully enters the crimp barrel. Insert the conductor into the barrel and position the lug so the conductor insulation meets the barrel entrance. Use a suitable crimping tool sized for 16 mm² copper lugs and make a full, nominal crimp according to the tool manufacturer's instructions to achieve a secure electrical and mechanical connection. After crimping, secure the lug to the mating stud or bolt using an appropriately sized washer and nut, tightened to the recommended torque for the application.
Choose the correct crimping die or tool for 16 mm² copper lugs and verify crimps periodically in high-vibration or high-current installations. Where environmental exposure or corrosion risk is present, use additional protective measures such as insulating boots, heat-shrink tubing or corrosion-inhibiting compound as appropriate for the installation.
