Sound Level Meter Unit UT353, 30–130 dB range, 31.5 Hz–8 kHz frequency
Unit UT353 is a handheld sound level meter that measures acoustic levels from 30 to 130 dB with a frequency response of 31.5 Hz to 8 kHz. Designed for workplace noise checks, environmental measurements and equipment diagnostics, the device delivers continuous A-weighted readings and peak detection in a compact, portable form factor suitable for rapid on-site assessment.
The sound level meter offers a wide dynamic range and a defined frequency response that covers common industrial and environmental noise sources. Its handheld design and intuitive front-panel controls provide straightforward operation for technicians and inspectors. Continuous measurement and peak detection modes enable users to capture both steady-state and transient acoustic events, while the compact housing supports easy transport and field deployment.
Power on the unit and select the desired measurement mode. Hold the meter at arm’s length with the microphone pointed toward the sound source, avoiding obstructions and reflective surfaces close to the microphone. Allow the instrument to stabilize to capture continuous readings, and switch to peak detection to record transient events. Record readings directly from the display or note peak values as required for reports and diagnostics.
Place the meter at a consistent distance from the source and avoid placing the microphone within a few centimeters of surfaces that can reflect sound. For workplace or environmental assessments, perform measurements at representative locations and at times that reflect typical operating conditions. Calibrate or verify the meter periodically according to relevant procedures to maintain measurement accuracy.
