Acrylic Water Deep Oceans 250 ml paint medium — VALLEJO
VALLEJO Acrylic Water Deep Oceans 250 ml is a water-based acrylic medium formulated to recreate clear, glossy water surfaces and layered depth effects in scale models, dioramas and terrain scenery. Packaged in a 250 ml jar, the medium produces transparent, non-yellowing results suitable for both brush-applied and poured water effects. Its formulation allows visible submerged details while providing a realistic sheen and optical depth for oceans, rivers, ponds and other aquatic features.
This acrylic water medium delivers high transparency and gloss without noticeable yellowing, enabling long-lasting clear water effects. It can be applied by brush or poured in successive layers to build depth and simulate currents or still water. The product dries to a durable, water-resistant finish and preserves painted or textured bases beneath the surface. Its consistency supports both fine-detail work and larger surface coverage for hobby and modelling applications.
Ensure the model base is clean, dry and painted or textured as required before application. For brush application, apply thin layers and allow each layer to dry thoroughly before adding the next to increase depth gradually. For pour application, use a level surface and pour slowly to avoid trapping air bubbles; allow sufficient drying time between successive pours to build optical depth. Small bubbles can be eliminated with a fine heat source or a pin immediately after pouring. Follow standard studio precautions for ventilation and avoid using on non-compatible plastics without prior testing.
Use acrylic-compatible primers and paints for underlying layers and test adhesion on new materials. When creating waves or ripples, shape the surface with a brush while the medium is still tacky or add texture after partial curing. Store the jar tightly closed in a cool, dry place and avoid freezing temperatures to maintain consistent performance.
