Network cable tester VELLEMAN VTTEST11 with RJ-11 support, 9 V, white, 205×40×38 mm
The VELLEMAN VTTEST11 network cable tester is a compact kit for locating and checking continuity of RJ-11 and similar low-voltage cables. The set includes a tone generator and a probe and is powered from a 9 V battery (not included). It provides a portable solution for tracing cable routes and identifying open or interrupted conductors.
The tester offers three signal indication modes—lamp, speaker or both—so you can detect tones visually or audibly. The tone generator produces square-wave output in single (≈900 Hz) or dual (≈900–1000 Hz) frequency modes to help distinguish paired lines. The kit is lightweight, compact and supplied with a soft carrying bag for convenience on-site.
Connect the tone generator to one end of the cable under test (using the appropriate connector or test clips), switch the generator on and select single or dual tone mode and the desired output (lamp, speaker or both). Move along the cable route with the probe and listen or watch for the tone; change probe volume if needed to improve detection. If the tone is not detected beyond a certain point, the location indicates a possible interruption.
Use a fresh 9 V battery in both units for reliable operation. Avoid using the tester on live mains circuits; this device is intended for low-voltage telephone and data lines. Store the components in the supplied soft carrying bag to protect contacts and the probe tip during transport.
