External DVD±RW optical drive Verbatim 43886, USB 3.2 Gen 1, tray load, black, 24x CD / 8x DVD write
Verbatim 43886 is an external DVD±RW optical drive designed for desktop and laptop computers. The drive connects via USB 3.2 Gen 1 (also referred to as 3.1 Gen 1) to provide reliable data transfer for disc reading, writing and media playback. With tray loading and compact dimensions (133×145×11 mm) and a lightweight construction (0.237 kg), this black DVD±RW drive offers 24x CD read/write capability and up to 8x DVD+R write speed for everyday disc authoring, playback and archiving tasks.
The Verbatim 43886 combines broad media compatibility with a simple tray-loading design that fits standard optical discs. USB 3.2 Gen 1 interface ensures backward compatibility with USB 2.0 ports while allowing faster transfers when connected to USB 3.x hosts. Its compact form factor and low weight make it easy to carry between workstations and use with both desktops and laptops without adding significant bulk. The drive supports common CD and DVD writable and rewritable formats for flexible media management.
Connect the Verbatim 43886 to an available USB port on your computer using the supplied cable or a compatible USB 3.2 Gen 1 cable. Wait for the operating system to detect the drive and install any necessary drivers; most modern Windows, macOS and Linux systems will recognize the drive automatically. Press the tray release or eject button to load a disc, place the disc onto the tray with the label side up, then close the tray. Use your preferred disc burning, playback or file manager application to read or write data. After finishing, use the eject function in software or the hardware button to remove the disc safely.
For reliable disc writing, use high-quality certified media and avoid moving the drive during burn operations. When connecting to a laptop, prefer a direct USB port on the computer rather than an unpowered hub to ensure sufficient power delivery. Store discs in protective cases to prevent scratches and keep the drive in a clean, dry environment to maintain performance over time.
