Rack-mount ACS 8000 32-Port console server by Vertiv, single AC power, RJ-45 console, Embedded Linux, 438.2×241.3×44.5 mm
Vertiv Avocent ACS 8000 is a 32-port rack-mount console server designed for centralized out-of-band management of network, server and infrastructure equipment. This model features a single AC power supply, RJ-45 serial console connectivity, Embedded Linux operating system and a compact 1U rack profile with dimensions of 438.2 × 241.3 × 44.5 mm and a weight of 3.4 kg. The appliance supports common management interfaces including CLI, HTTP/HTTPS and SNMP and offers secure authentication methods and modern cryptographic algorithms to meet data center security requirements.
The ACS 8000 provides a consolidated management endpoint for multiple serial devices, reducing the need for direct physical access to equipment. Built-in support for secure authentication (LOCAL, LDAP, RADIUS, TACACS+ and one-time passwords) and encryption standards (3DES and AES 128/192/256, FIPS 140-2, IPSec, SHA-256) helps ensure compliance with security policies. Automated discovery and auto-sensing serial ports simplify deployment and initial configuration. The Embedded Linux platform and support for IPv6 enable integration into modern IT environments.
Install the ACS 8000 into a standard 19-inch rack using the supplied mounting hardware and connect AC power via the C13 coupler. Attach network uplinks to the Ethernet or fiber ports and connect serial RJ-45 console cables to target devices. Access the appliance using the web interface over HTTPS or via CLI/SSH to perform initial configuration, set up authentication sources (LOCAL, LDAP, RADIUS, TACACS+), enable SNMP for monitoring and configure logging and event notifications. Use the built-in discovery and auto-sensing features to identify attached devices and verify serial pin-out automatically.
Place the console server in a secure rack location with restricted access, integrate it with centralized authentication and logging systems, and enable encryption (HTTPS, SSH, IPSec) and FIPS-compliant options where required by policy. Regularly update firmware and monitor environmental sensors to maintain reliable remote management.
