Console Server Vertiv Avocent ACS 8048DAC
The Vertiv Avocent ACS 8048DAC is an advanced console server designed for secure, remote management of servers, network devices and power equipment in data centers. It uses a dual ARM core processor and provides redundant network connectivity with dual Gigabit Ethernet and dual Gigabit fiber ports. The appliance includes auto-sensing serial ports for simplified cabling, a sensor port for environmental monitoring, and runs on an embedded Linux operating system.
The ACS 8048DAC combines redundant networking interfaces and a dual-core platform to deliver high availability and performance for remote console access. Automated discovery tools simplify initial configuration by identifying connected servers, switches, routers and power devices. Built-in security features and support for modern network standards such as IPv6, along with support for SSH, SNMP and WPA2-RADIUS, enable controlled multi-level access and secure logging of events and configuration changes.
Install the ACS 8048DAC in a standard 19" rack and connect the AC power source. Use the Ethernet or fiber ports for network connectivity, and attach serial console cables to the auto-sensing RS-232 ports for each managed device. Connect optional environmental sensors to the sensor port. Use the web interface or command-line tools over SSH to configure network settings, user accounts and access levels, run the automated discovery to identify connected devices, and enable logging and event monitoring as required.
Place the console server in a secure, cooled rack location with redundant network paths and configure role-based access with secure protocols (SSH, SNMP with appropriate security, WPA2-RADIUS where applicable). Regularly back up configuration and enable event logging to central logging systems for audit and troubleshooting.
