Bolt and Chain Cutter Vorel 49774, 900 mm Length
The Bolt and Chain Cutter Vorel 49774 is a handheld cutting tool with 900 mm long handles designed for cutting bolts, chains and similar metal fasteners. Constructed with steel-tube arms and plastic-covered handles, the cutter features articulated jaws made of hardened chrome-manganese steel and an adjustable jaw opening for controlled cutting. Supplied as a single tool suitable for workshop, maintenance and demolition use where manual cutting of medium-thick metal links or bolts is required.
The tool combines long handles for increased leverage with hardened chrome-manganese cutting jaws for durability and effective shearing of metal fasteners. Plastic covers on the handles improve grip and user comfort, while the adjustable jaw opening allows adaptation to different diameters of bolts and links up to the tool’s capacity. The steel-tube arms provide a balance of strength and manageability for manual operation.
This cutter is designed for manual use and for cutting up to roughly 14 mm diameter metal rods or links; it is not suitable for thicker or high-tensile alloy bolts that exceed the stated capacity. For frequent industrial cutting of very hard or larger-diameter materials, a hydraulic cutter or powered cutting equipment may be more appropriate.
Position the jaws around the bolt, chain link or fastener to be cut and ensure the material sits at the cutting edge. Use both hands on the long handles to apply steady pressure until the cutting jaws shear through the material. Adjust the jaw opening as needed before cutting to accommodate the diameter of the object. Observe safe working practices, keeping hands clear of the cutting area and using appropriate personal protective equipment such as gloves and eye protection.
For best results, use the Vorel 49774 on standard mild steel bolts, chain links and similar fasteners within the specified diameter. Apply steady, even force with both hands and check the jaw adjustment before each cut. Inspect the jaws regularly for wear and replace the tool if the cutting edges become chipped or excessively worn.
