Crimping Tool W-STAR WS7018 for RJ45 RJ12 Cat7 Cat6 Cat5 STP
Crimping Tool W-STAR WS7018 for RJ45 RJ12 Cat7 Cat6 Cat5 STP
The W-STAR WS7018 crimping tool is engineered for terminating RJ45 and RJ12 connectors on shielded twisted-pair (STP) and unshielded cables up to Cat7, Cat6 and Cat5. Designed for field and workshop use, it performs mechanical crimping to establish reliable electrical contact and secure strain relief for patch cords, patch panels and in-line terminations. The tool combines a compact hand tool profile with a dedicated die set for modular plugs, enabling consistent connector compression and a controlled crimping action for repeatable results.
The WS7018 offers a durable crimping mechanism and machined contact points that produce even pressure across connector pins, reducing the risk of intermittent contacts. Its built-in cutter and stripper functions streamline cable preparation, and the ergonomic handle design improves grip and control during repetitive tasks. The tool is compatible with both RJ45 and RJ12 modular plugs and supports the larger conductor sizes and shielding layers typical of Cat6 and Cat7 STP assemblies.
Prepare the cable by stripping the outer jacket to the required length and arranging the conductor pairs according to the desired wiring standard. Insert the terminated conductors into the modular plug until the wires reach the end of the plug and the shield is properly positioned for STP plugs. Place the plug into the WS7018 crimping die and squeeze the handles firmly and evenly until the crimp cycle completes. If needed, use the integrated cutter to trim excess conductor ends and the stripper to remove jacket sections during preparation.
Verify connector seating and continuity after crimping with a cable tester to ensure correct pair mapping and shielding continuity. For best results with shielded cables, ensure the foil or braid makes contact with the connector’s drain wire or shield termination. Store the tool dry and periodically check the crimping jaws for wear; replace the tool if crimps become inconsistent.
