Socket Wera 8790 HMC
Socket Wera 8790 HMC is a long 1/2" hand and machine socket (ISO 2725 part 3) with a ball intercept ring, designed for external hexagonal bolts and nuts. It is suitable for manual and machine (non-impact) operation, including work with low-lying screw heads and protruding threaded rods. The socket features Wera's Take it easy colour coding by size for quick identification, a hexagon profile that allows high torque transmission while reducing stress on bolt edges, and a fine-toothed ratchet compatibility that supports use in confined spaces thanks to a small return angle.
The long 1/2" socket provides secure engagement on external hex fasteners and a ball intercept ring for reliable retention on the drive. Colour-coded sizing speeds up tool selection. The hexagon profile distributes force efficiently and reduces rounding of bolt edges compared with double hex profiles. The design and fine-toothed ratchet compatibility make it usable in tight spaces and with oily hands.
Select the correct metric socket size using the Take it easy colour coding. Fit the 1/2" drive to a compatible ratchet or machine drive (non-impact). Engage the socket onto the external hex bolt or nut until the ball intercept ring secures it in place. Apply torque by hand or with a non-impact machine, observing recommended torque values for the fastener. For work in tight spaces, use a fine-toothed ratchet to take advantage of the small return angle.
Use only with manual tools or non-impact powered drives; avoid impact wrenches. Keep contact surfaces clean and free of debris or heavy oil to ensure secure engagement. Replace the socket if rounding or visible damage appears to maintain safe and accurate operation.
