Socket Wera 8790 HMC
The Wera 8790 HMC Socket is a 1/2" drive metric hand and machine socket (ISO 2725-3) with a ball intercept ring, designed for external hexagonal bolts and nuts. It is suitable for manual and machine (non-impact) use, including work with low-profile fasteners and protruding threaded studs. The socket includes Wera's Take it easy colour coding by size for quick identification and has an easy-to-grip surface that performs well even with oily hands. The hexagon profile transmits high torque while reducing stress on bolt and screw edges; combined with fine-toothed ratchets and a small return angle, it enables efficient operation in confined spaces.
This socket combines compatibility with hand and machine (non-impact) applications and a secure ball intercept ring for reliable retention on the drive. Colour coding simplifies size selection, and the grip texture improves handling in slippery conditions. The hexagon profile preserves fastener edges under high loads, and the fine-toothed design allows work with minimal swing arc in tight areas.
Select the colour-coded socket matching the fastener size, push it onto the 1/2" drive tool until the ball intercept ring secures it, and operate with a suitable hand ratchet or machine drive in non-impact mode. For tight spaces use a fine-toothed ratchet to benefit from the small return angle; ensure the socket is fully engaged on the hexagon fastener before applying torque to avoid rounding the edges.
Use only with non-impact machine drives; avoid impact wrenches. Keep the socket and fasteners clean and lightly lubricated if needed to prevent corrosion and ensure reliable engagement. Replace the socket if any deformation or excessive wear appears.
