Circlip Pliers YATO YT-2137, external/internal, PVC handles, 180 mm
YATO YT-2137 circlip pliers are 180 mm hand tools designed for installing and removing both external and internal circlips. Constructed from steel with precision tips and fitted with PVC-covered red handles, these pliers provide a balance of durability, control and basic insulation suitable for automotive, mechanical and general maintenance tasks. The tool's geometry and tip profile enable reliable engagement with retaining rings in tight or recessed grooves.
The YATO YT-2137 combines a robust steel body with precision-machined tips to reduce slippage and wear during repeated use. PVC-covered handles improve grip and offer limited protection against accidental contact with conductive surfaces. At 180 mm overall length the pliers deliver a compromise between access to confined spaces and sufficient leverage for manipulating small to medium circlips. The tool supports both external and internal ring applications, reducing the need for multiple dedicated pliers.
Select the appropriate orientation of the pliers for external or internal circlips. Position the tips into the circlip holes or notches, then apply steady hand pressure to open or close the ring as required. When removing an internal circlip, carefully compress the ring to reduce its diameter and withdraw it from the groove; when fitting an external circlip, expand the ring just enough to slide over the shaft and into its groove. Maintain control of the tool while releasing tension to avoid sudden ring ejection.
Inspect the tips before use and replace the pliers if tips show excessive wear or deformation. Use eye protection when working with circlips and maintain a firm grip on the PVC handles. Avoid using the pliers as a general-purpose gripping or cutting tool to preserve tip geometry and ensure long service life.
