Drill bit YATO YT-44865, single piece, for general drilling use
YATO YT-44865 single-piece drill bit made from high-speed steel (HSS) for general drilling in metals. Supplied as a single spare bit with a 1/4" HEX (6.3 mm) shank, the bit is designed to work with compatible drills for home, workshop or light professional tasks involving stainless and structural steels.
The HSS construction increases drilling speed and preserves cutting geometry for longer life. A cross-blade split point with a 135° apex angle enables drilling without prior scoring and ensures accurate centring. The ground surfaces and edges conforming to DiN 338 improve hole precision and dimensional accuracy, while efficient heat dissipation prevents burning when working with hard steels. Reduced friction lowers adhesion of swarf and filings, and the single-piece manufacture provides greater strength and durability.
Install the 1/4" HEX shank securely into a compatible drill chuck or holder. Mark the drilling position and, if needed, use a centre punch for very hard or thick workpieces. Start drilling at moderate speed, applying steady pressure; reduce speed when penetrating hardened or stainless steels to control heat build-up. Withdraw periodically to clear swarf and allow cooling when drilling deeper holes.
Use cutting fluid or oil when drilling stainless or hardened steels to improve chip evacuation and reduce heat. Inspect the bit before use for wear or damage and replace if geometry is compromised to maintain hole quality and safe operation.
