Yato YT-44872 drill bit is a single-piece HSS 6542 high-speed steel bit with a 1/4" HEX shank (6.3 mm), designed for professional drilling in high-grade stainless steel, structural steel, INOX and cold-rolled steel. The bit features a split-point tip with a 135° apex angle to enable accurate centring and drilling without pre-scoring.
The HSS 6542 material delivers higher cutting speed and maintains drill geometry for prolonged lifespan. The split-point (cross-blade) tip ensures precise centring and reduces walking. Ground surfaces and edges manufactured to DiN 338 standard provide accurate hole dimensions. Fast heat dissipation prevents overheating when working with hard steels, and a reduced friction factor limits adhesion of swarf and filings to the cutting edges.
Secure the Yato YT-44872 drill bit in a compatible chuck or quick-change hex holder using the 1/4" HEX shank. Mark and, if desired, clamp the workpiece to prevent movement. Start drilling at a steady speed appropriate for stainless or structural steel, applying consistent feed pressure. Use cutting fluid or coolant when drilling hard steels to extend tool life and improve chip evacuation. Reduce speed and remove the bit periodically for chip clearing on deep holes.
For best results, use appropriate cutting fluid and clamp the workpiece. Match drilling speed and feed to the material hardness; lower speeds are recommended for stainless and high-strength steels to avoid overheating and maintain drill geometry.
