File/Rasp YATO YT-6230, length 250 mm, single piece
The YATO YT-6230 file/rasp is a 250 mm hand tool designed for shaping, smoothing and deburring metal, wood and plastic surfaces. Supplied as a single piece, this triangular file features a tapered profile and a semi-smooth cut suitable for controlled material removal and edge finishing. The tool is intended for general workshop use, fittings and repair tasks and is compatible with standard hand tool holders.
The triangular, tapered shape allows access to corners and grooves that flat files cannot reach, while the semi-smooth double-cut surface balances material removal rate with a finer finish. The three-component handle provides secure grip and better control during use, reducing slipping and user fatigue. Constructed for general-purpose durability, the file maintains consistent cutting performance across common workshop materials.
Secure the workpiece before filing to prevent movement. Hold the file with both hands — one on the handle and the other guiding the tip — and apply even forward strokes, using light pressure on the return stroke to avoid dulling the teeth. Use the tapered triangular edges for corners, grooves and internal angles and the flat faces for surface work. Clean metal filings from the teeth periodically with a file card or wire brush to maintain cutting efficiency.
For best results, select the semi-smooth cut when moderate material removal with a finer finish is required; use coarser files for rapid stock removal and finer files for polishing. Wear eye protection when filing metal and secure small workpieces in a vise. Store the file in a protective sleeve or tool roll to protect the cutting surfaces between uses.
