Heat-shrink tubing YATO YT-81443, pack of 20 pieces
YATO YT-81443 heat-shrink tubing pack contains 20 transparent, glue-lined thermal sleeves designed to insulate and protect electrical connections and wiring. Each 40 mm length sleeve has a 6 mm internal diameter before shrinking and is intended for wires with cross-sections of 4–6 mm2 (approximately 12–10 AWG). The central ring of solder and side rings of hot-melt adhesive create a secure, moisture-resistant and mechanically robust joint after heat application. The tubing is made from polyethylene (PE), which provides a higher shrink ratio and improved resistance to abrasion, chemicals and low temperatures compared with PVC alternatives.
The combination of a central tin ring and dual adhesive rings ensures a reliable soldered connection and an effective seal around the joint, producing a durable, waterproof sleeve. PE construction delivers a 3:1 shrink ratio for better fit on varied cable diameters, maintains flexibility in sub-zero conditions and resists punctures and chemical exposure. The specified melt temperature for the solder binder and the shrink temperature are tuned for safe, repeatable results during electrical repair, automotive wiring and industrial applications.
Slide the appropriate sized heat-shrink sleeve over one conductor before making the soldered joint. Twist and solder the wires together so the solder ring flows between conductors, then center the tubing over the joint so the solder ring and adhesive rings align with the splice. Apply heat evenly using a heat gun or controlled flame until the solder binder melts and the tubing shrinks tightly around the connection; heating to the specified shrink temperature ensures the adhesive flows and forms a seal. Allow the assembly to cool and verify the mechanical and electrical integrity of the splice.
Use a temperature-controlled heat gun for even shrinking and to avoid overheating nearby insulation or components. For best results, choose tubing size with consideration for the conductor insulation thickness so the 3:1 shrink ratio provides a complete seal. Where long-term outdoor exposure is expected, ensure connections are clean, corrosion-free and fully encapsulated by the adhesive rings. Follow standard safety practices for soldering and heating: work in a ventilated area, wear eye protection and avoid direct skin contact with hot surfaces.
