Circuit breaker ABB SH201-B16 1P B 16A (MPN 2CDS211001R0165)
ABB SH201-B16 is a single-pole miniature circuit breaker with a B characteristic and a nominal current rating of 16 A. Designed for installation on standard DIN rails in residential and light-commercial distribution boards, this device provides overcurrent and short-circuit protection for single-phase circuits. The breaker trips on overloads and short circuits to isolate faulty circuits and help prevent wiring damage and fire risks.
The circuit breaker offers compact DIN-rail mounting and a single-pole design that saves space in distribution panels. Its B-type tripping characteristic ensures sensitive protection for circuits with mainly resistive loads and moderate inrush currents, such as lighting and general-purpose sockets. The device is manufactured by a recognized brand and is built to provide consistent tripping performance and mechanical durability under normal operating conditions.
This single-pole B-characteristic breaker is not intended for three-phase distribution or for circuits with heavy motor loads that produce high inrush currents; in those cases a C- or D-type breaker or a multi-pole device may be more appropriate. It is also not a residual-current device and does not provide earth-fault protection, so a separate RCD/RCBO should be used where protection against electric shock or leakage currents is required.
Install the breaker on a compatible DIN rail in the distribution board following local electrical codes and safety practices. Connect the supply conductor to the input terminal and the protected circuit conductor to the output terminal, ensuring proper tightening of terminals and correct polarity. After wiring, switch the breaker to the ON position; test the circuit under normal conditions. For maintenance or fault isolation, switch the device to OFF and verify that the upstream supply is isolated before working on the circuit.
Use this ABB SH201-B16 breaker for single-phase lighting and general-purpose circuits where a B-type 16 A protection is appropriate. Combine with suitable upstream protection and RCDs where required by regulation. Periodically check connections and the mechanical condition of the breaker; replace if signs of wear or repeated nuisance tripping occur.
