Usage recommendations

Although ISO/IEC and TIA standards typically specify patch cords between 22 and 26 AWG, this slimline cable uses thinner conductors (around 32 AWG), which increases attenuation at higher frequencies. ACT therefore recommends using shorter permanent link lengths than for standard 24 AWG patch cords to accommodate the higher attenuation. For Power over Ethernet (PoE) applications ACT advises a maximum bundle size of 24 cables to limit temperature rise; ANSI TSB-184-A limits the temperature increase for the centre cable in a bundle to less than 15 °C above ambient.
