Serial Converter Repeater Isolator AJA ROI-SDI
The AJA ROI-SDI is a compact serial converter, repeater and isolator designed for reliable handling of SDI signals in broadcast and professional video workflows. This unit extracts and converts a selectable Region of Interest (ROI) from a 3G-SDI input while mirroring the output to both 3G-SDI and HDMI. With USB configuration via AJA’s Mini-Config software, high-quality scaling and aspect ratio control, ROI-SDI provides precise reframing, scaling and audio embedding in a small, portable enclosure that accepts universal power.
ROI-SDI combines region extraction, high-quality image scaling and simultaneous 3G-SDI and HDMI outputs in a single compact device. The 3G-SDI loop-through and genlock input preserve sync and allow inline placement without interrupting monitoring paths. Configurable audio embedding and a stereo RCA monitoring output provide flexible audio routing. The unit’s universal power supply and small form factor make it suitable for studio racks, monitor backs or camera rigs, and AJA’s five-year warranty ensures long-term support.
Connect the 3G-SDI source to the ROI-SDI input and attach the 3G-SDI loop-through or HDMI outputs to your monitor or downstream device. If synchronization with other equipment is required, connect the genlock/reference input. Use the supplied universal power supply to power the unit. For ROI selection and scaling, connect ROI-SDI to a computer over USB and run AJA’s Mini-Config software; the software provides on-screen controls to rotate, crop and scale the selected region and to configure audio routing. Once configured, the device mirrors the processed image to both 3G-SDI and HDMI outputs for simultaneous delivery.
For best image quality, use the Mini-Config application to preview ROI selection and scaling with the intended output resolution. When deploying inline, ensure the loop-through connection is secured and use genlock when combined with other synchronized devices. For portable or battery-powered setups, use the optional P-TAP cable and confirm the power source meets the device’s voltage range. Keep firmware and Mini-Config software updated to maintain compatibility and access improvements.
