Alkotest connector ZW2012 for threaded male 1/2" to pipe Ø20 mm (PP)
The Alkotest connector ZW2012 for threaded male 1/2" to pipe Ø20 mm (PP) is a polypropylene plumbing adapter designed to convert a male 1/2" threaded fitting into a socket for a 20 mm diameter PP pipe. It provides a secure mechanical and sealed transition between metal or plastic threaded components and polypropylene piping, intended for potable water and general fluid distribution in domestic and light commercial installations. The connector is suitable for repairs, extensions and connecting fixtures where a threaded inlet must be joined to a 20 mm PP line.
This PP connector offers chemical and corrosion resistance typical of polypropylene, maintaining dimensional stability in contact with common household water. Its threaded-to-socket design simplifies installation by eliminating the need for additional adapters when joining 1/2" male threads to 20 mm PP pipe. The component is lightweight and requires only basic plumbing tools for assembly, providing a reliable sealed joint when installed correctly.
Prepare the 20 mm PP pipe by cutting squarely and deburring the end. Ensure the male 1/2" threaded fitting is clean and free of old sealing tape or debris. If required by the installation, apply an appropriate thread sealant to the male thread according to the sealant manufacturer's instructions. Push the PP pipe fully into the socket end of the connector and secure any required mechanical retention if applicable. Tighten the threaded connection by hand and then use a suitable wrench to complete the joint, taking care not to overtighten and risk damaging threads or the polypropylene socket. After assembly, check for leaks under operating pressure.
Use compatible thread sealants and avoid excessive mechanical torque when tightening. Verify chemical compatibility of polypropylene with the fluid in the system and ensure operating temperatures and pressures remain within the safe range for PP pipe fittings. For pressurized systems, perform a pressure test after installation and inspect periodically for signs of wear or leaks.
