Network Media Converter Allied Telesis AT-IMC2000T/SP-980
The Allied Telesis AT-IMC2000T/SP-980 is an industrial temperature media converter that links 10/100/1000T twisted-pair Ethernet to 100Mbps or 1000Mbps SFP fiber. The fanless unit supports up to 10K jumbo frames, implements Smart MissingLink™ (SML) for link-failure notification, and can be mounted on a DIN-rail or used as a desktop/standalone device. It accepts 12–48 V input power and provides robust wired connectivity for industrial and commercial networks.
The AT-IMC2000T/SP-980 supports both 100Base-X and 1000Base-X SFP modules and auto-detects optics, allowing flexible fiber choices (multimode, single-mode or BiDi). It is fanless for silent, low-maintenance operation, supports jumbo frames up to 10K, and features Smart MissingLink™ to help quickly identify failed links. The device also supports PoE powering of remote devices via the twisted-pair port when used in PoE-capable setups and complies with relevant safety standards.
Install the AT-IMC2000T/SP-980 on a DIN rail or place it on a flat surface for desktop operation. Insert a compatible SFP module into the SFP slot (or use a model with a fixed fiber connector), then connect the fiber cable to the SFP or SC/LC connector. Connect copper devices to the RJ‑45 port. Power the unit with a 12–48 V supply. If the connected switch supports PoE and Remote Power Cycle, the IMC can pass PoE to downstream devices and be power-cycled remotely via the host switch.
For longer fiber distances choose appropriate long-range SFP modules; use PoE-capable switches and correct cabling when powering remote devices. Monitor SML notifications from the host to quickly locate link failures and ensure firmware and SFP optics are compatible with your network equipment.
